Accommodation
In Uganda, our projects are based 1 hour east of Kampala on the Kampala - Jinj road, in a town called Mukono - see maps below.
Volunteers are expected to arrange their own accommodation, our favourites are listed below:
1. Kasenge Riverford Organic Farm (www.sendacowuganda.org)
* This is where the majority of our volunteers stay. Timothy runs the farm with his children and the family are welcoming, reliable and hospitable. They are well known contacts of Experience Culture.
* The farm is just outside of Mukono in a village, if staying here it will expected that you will become an important part of the local community as they take great interest in Experience Culture Volunteers.
* Accommodation for Experience Culture Volunteers if offered at a special rate of £200 per 4 week period (about £7/night).
Facilities:
* Single/Twin/Dorm rooms with mosquito nets
* En suite/separate male and female showers
* Food - breakfast and dinner
* Water supply (purified rainwater)
* Electricity supply (solar power/generator used during powercuts)
* Basic Kitchen facilities
Timothy is often able to provide airport pick-up, and sometimes transport to/from your placement, for a small cost if desired. We expect volunteers to discuss this with him and his sons on arrival. However if he is not able to provide transport, volunteers need to be aware that they would be expected to get around on local transport.
Please email Timothy (make yourself known as an Experience Culture Volunteer) to arrange accommodation, and possibly transport, at: kasengeriv@mail2web.com or
2. Colline Hotel in Mukono Town (www.colinehotel.com)
* Costs vary according to season and availability, but are around $100/night for a double room
* Please email for up-to-date costs and availability: reservations@collinehotel.com
* Airport pick-up is available at an extra cost
